Bespoke Garden Design and Consultancy

Bespoke Garden Design

1. Consultation and client brief

The design process begins with an initial consultation at your home where we will walk around your garden together, discussing your ideas and requirements. This information, together with a detailed overview of the existing features of the garden, will be noted in the client brief.

2. Site Survey

Once commissioned, a full site survey of your garden will be conducted. This will be carried out by me, or by a professional surveyor, if the garden is large or there are a lot of existing features and changes in level. The site survey, together with the information gathered in the client brief, will form the basis for the garden design.

3. Concept Drawings

Using the client brief and the site survey, a number of initial design sketches (in pencil) will be overlaid on a scale plan drawing of the site. These, together with mood boards, will help you to visualise the designs and enable you to identify the elements that you would like to see in the final garden design.

4. The Final Design

A full A1 scale garden layout plan will be beautifully hand-drawn, combining all of your favourite elements from the initial sketches. In addition, a number of cross section elevations will be provided to help you picture your garden from different angles. These documents also serve as technical drawings from which your chosen landscaper can work. More complex features of the garden may require detailed construction drawings.

5. Planting & Border Design

Once the final garden design is approved, an additional service is offered where the areas of planting can be planned and borders designed. Taking onboard your preferences for colour, style and maintenance requirements, the perfect planting plan will be developed to complement your garden, soften the hard landscaping, attract wildlife and ultimately create your ideal outdoor space.

6. Construction and Project Management

A full project management service is also available, which includes tendering for the work, selection of a suitable contractor(s) and managing your garden project from start to finish.

7. Aftercare Service

An aftercare advisory service is also available. Following completion of your landscaping project, you can phone me anytime for an advisory chat or alternatively I can arrange to visit your garden and provide advice on any maintenance or planting questions you may have.
